MIDI time shift- why not ms?

Post by SMS »

I'm doing some orchestral stuff, using East/West sample library, which is great but has noticeable and consistent latency. The MIDI time shift plug works great to advance the events, but it only can be set by ticks. My project has different meters and tempos, so one setting doesn't work throughout the piece. It seems that we should be able to set this in ms, as latency stays constant regardless of tempo...

thoughts?

Click the icon to the right of the data entry window to switch to different time formats.

Don't feel bad -- I didn't discover that one myself until a few years ago, and it was quite by accident! The pixel sensitivity zone for that menu to pop up or not, is quite precise! So it's hard to notice it if you don't know there's something there to start with. I might have found it in the user manual when I was looking for such a feature for my clients who needed precise time markers.
