Does anybody know for sure what DP's pan law is?
I suspect it's -3.5, but I have no way of confirming.

Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

BTW, perhaps this is a clue?
In the Bounce to Disk dialog box, there's an option that reads "Mono with 3.5 dB attenuation".
But, shouldn't it be 6.02 dB attenuation if we don't take the pan law into account?
So, is that option with 3.5 dB attenuation ON TOP of DP's (automatic) pan law (so they add to 6.02 dB), or is it only a precaution to help avoiding clipping the signal?
I'm confused because, if I understand correctly, summing something to mono means the same signal will sound equally loud on both speakers, therefore duplicating the apparent loudness with respect to a hard panned signal.
That would be the same as increasing the voltage, or, in this case, the resulting gain by 6.02 dB, yes?
So why the 3.5 attenuation? Where does it come from?

-3.5 is what I've heard. I think I measured it once, but I don't remember the results.
Easy enough to figure out with a test tone. I think there are still some free test tone generators around. If not, there are plenty of tones as wav files on the interwebs.

I'm not sure what the pan law is in Texas, but I'm very careful to look all around for cops before I pan. If they don't catch me, I can pan any way I want.
