Im looking to purchase DP6 w/Manual/keygen. Basically new. Anyone know where? Or possibly sell me theirs?

Ignoring the fact that Buy/Sell ads aren't allowed here (you might want to modify your post), you've aroused my curiosity.
Why 6? What OS would you install it over? It cannot be authorized on a Mac running 10.7 or later.
DP 6 is generally acknowledged as the worst version ever. I tossed mine years ago to make shelf space along with my other old versions. I doubt that I'm alone. If you're set on acquiring a copy, the following book was heavily promoted at the time. I saw this on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DON-BARRETT-Dig ... SwjKFZPSIV
One of the other issues with 6 is that few of us here remember specifics, myself included. Some of us hated it and ran back to 5 (guilty).
DP 7.24 installs and runs on OS 10.5–10.11 (7 to 7.1 runs on 10.4). Some of us here still use it and, if you have questions, they are easier to answer. It's also easier to find. I see sale ads on eBay now and then from resellers who still have old stock.

I'll answer what you know. That's actually a piracy term for a program that generates a key code of serial for the purposes of bypassing copy protection. I'm wondering if the OP realizes this or should I delete post immediately?magicd wrote:What is "keygen"?

That's what I initially thought, but since the OP offered to make a purchase, I gave them the benefit of a doubt and assumed they meant key code or serial number.James Steele wrote: That's actually a piracy term for a program that generates a key code of serial for the purposes of bypassing copy protection. Re: Im looking to purchase DP6 w/Manual/keygen
Right. Not the best choice of words on the part of the OP. I'd also point out that a licensed user cannot legally sell their old version of DP and continue to use their newer version. They'd have to transfer their license and cease using their newer versions of DP. Unless someone is just giving up using DP altogether, that's an unlikely scenario.cuttime wrote:That's what I initially thought, but since the OP offered to make a purchase, I gave them the benefit of a doubt and assumed they meant key code or serial number.James Steele wrote: That's actually a piracy term for a program that generates a key code of serial for the purposes of bypassing copy protection. Re: Im looking to purchase DP6 w/Manual/keygen
Yea, I didn't get into the keygen nonsense, especially since 6 requires a CD for activation and he wants a manual as well.
I'm still curious. Why 6 of all versions? 5.13 and 7.24 are both so good by comparison. If you're going to run on a PPC or 2006–2007 Intel Mac, those are the way to go. Not that I will ever use either again but 5 is solid and fairly intuitive while 7 is what 6 tried to be.
Of course, none of the 32bit versions installs over Sierra so why not 9? If running on an old Mac and collaborating with another, 7.24 can open DP 8 and 9 files but not everything is compatible. It would surprise me if 6 could—I'm not so curious that I'm going to move a file to my G4 to find out. I'm not that curious.
This idle speculation is something to do while I wonder why I can't get back to sleep at 3am, nothing more...

Yeah. 6 was a dog. They buried that version really quickly.

Re: Im looking to purchase DP6 w/Manual/keygen
My guess is he's used to other DAWs like Logic that sometimes have problems with backwards compatibility. MOTU did a great job with DP that way, and he probably thinks he needs an older version to open older files..mikehalloran wrote: I'm still curious. Re: Im looking to purchase DP6 w/Manual/keygen
This thread is starting to look like a practical joke, as it pushes a couple of well-known MOTUNation hot buttons.
I mean, for real... who would want to buy DP6? Even the metronome was busted in that one!
