DP 7.24, OS 10.7.5, Mac mini 2,1 ( upgraded 1,1 to C2D / 3GB ram )
I tested recording and forgot to make DP stop at 2h, so it recorded to the ext. SSD ( via FW )
and filled it up…no need to rescue the files, but
when I came back, the mini was frozen… mouse moved but everything else was non functional
Is this the normal behavior to be expected ?
TIA for hints
and best regards
Klaus

Re: Mac freeze during record
I doubt many would know if it is "normal" since recording until a disk is full is, for most here, a very rare event. Obviously, the first question is: did you force quit and or re-boot? That I'd wipe the drive (unless you can just delete the errant file).
My guess is any time you have a non-normal episode like that there is no normal response. The system gets confused looking for space and can loop into any number of routines.

Thanks for reply MIDI Life Crisis
I'm just trying to exclude other reasons for the freeze…
tested ram and it seems to be ok…
I found about 2 lines in the log that refer to seeking for disk space, but after that nothing…
Any takers ?
Best

I think you found it. Looking for space is a high priority task.Klaus wrote: I found about 2 lines in the log that refer to seeking for disk space, but after that nothing…
Your Mac didn't freeze. Your mouse moved so we know that. The task you assigned it was stuck and wouldn't let you continue. It's probable that, if you did a force-quit, that quitting DP would bring your Mac back to life.
When your Mac actually freezes, only holding the Power switch or turning the power off lets you shut down the machine.
