Bluetooth key pad for DP?

Post by SMS »

I'm using Air Display with my iPad to remotely operate DP in my studio. I need a bluetooth keypad (numbers) for faster navigation. I remember buying a Numpad years ago that didn't work 'cause it sent the same keystrokes as the top row of the QWERTY kybd instead of the specific number keys, so I'm asking for recommendations here....

I'm looking at this on Amazon- want to dock it to a Magic Trackpad.

Thanks, Frank. Have you tested any of them? My experience taught me to not assume they will send the proper keystrokes... I guess I'll have to buy and return if necessary...

The Apple wired keyboard is 100% reliable and priced lower than most separate numeric keypads. Under $33 from many sources.

I was gonna suggest that, too.

That's what I use to remotely control DP when I'm doing piano or B-3 tracks.

I bought a USB extender for the keyboard (not many $ as I recall) so I'm good for 50' away from the MacPro.

Even though the DP Control app is seriously outdated and crashy, I do use it to visually confirm record and see measure numbers for punch-ins, etc.

I'm recording while sitting at my piano. I don't have room for a full keyboard, and don't want a wire. The iPad with air display is working great for visual confirmation. I what a numeric keypad to more easily operator the transport.

I use this on my NI S61. Works great.

You can use an iPad app like Keypad for this. There's even a numeric keypad template

Doh! Of course. I need to keep the iPad free for viewing, so I'm goint to try MobileMouse, which works on the iPhone and has track pad, as well as full keybard, Fkeys, num pad, etc. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, Frank

The problem with the satechi and some others is the keys aren't mapped as the Apple originals or are missing and DP (and I) use them. Zoom in on the site photo and note missing "clear" and "=" keys. Also some of keypads may have the numeric keys mapped to those on the top row of the basic keyboard. Gotta check.

I use the keypad no problem. It works exactly the same.

True, there's no Clear key. That can be an issue with some apps that use it including Finale.

Sarechi and others do make a wireless keyboard where the number pad does have that key.
