Re: Direct Hardware Playthrough
Oh. Actually, yes! The FB page says it will work with "older Macs". Yay!

Re: Direct Hardware Playthrough
Was considering a 16A instead of 828x, not anymore. An inexplicable and rare gaffe by MOTU. I'm not going to further interrupt work flow to fiddle with the software mixer, (that's hard to read anyway) just to get an input to route directly through the interface. Why in the world would they eliminate this great feature.

I get ultra low latency monitoring with or without efx in the console app with my UA Apollo in DP .

Re: Direct Hardware Playthrough
Direct hardware playthrough only works with MAS. The market for MOTU's hardware goes way beyond that of DP's so, sadly, ironically the implementation of that perk for DP users might not have been a priority. I agree that MOTU's AVB I/Os aren't very attractive to me without DHP. If I'm going to have to mess with a software mixer console there's better I/Os out there.difab4 wrote:Was considering a 16A instead of 828x, not anymore. An inexplicable and rare gaffe by MOTU. Re: Direct Hardware Playthrough
Hello,
I know this doesn't help the OP but I have to say:
This is the reason I maintain some way of monitoring in analog ahead of the A/D. I have an analog mixer at my studio. At school we use a Neve 5059 summing bus and split the preamp output (via half normaled patch-bay). Then nothing matters buffer size, monitor through hardware etc. It was a decision I made a long time ago and have never regretted. Basically it doesn't matter what manufacturers do to change how things work, I'm always good to go with zero latency.

It's the ear, not the gear!
