Soniccouture's free reed organ (limited number of licenses)

Post by mhschmieder »

Soniccouture posted a free Christmas gift today, with a limited number of licenses available.

Estey Reed Organ is a 1.8GB sampled 19th century pedal organ, featuring 8 separate stops, with adjustable pedal noise and key noise effects, and is fully compatible with the free Kontakt Player.

As I am reposting, it seems 'wrong" to post the coupon code. It shows up at that webpage anyway, and if it doesn't, it probably means all available Kontakt Player licenses are now exhausted.

There was some discussion somewhere I have been as to what minimum purchase of a third-party Kontakt instrument would qualify one for the discount on Kontakt 5. For me, it was Drum Direktor (thanks to a suggestion here) that qualified me. I wonder if this would qualify a person for that discount? (It is a fully fledged item with an activation code for Kontakt and everything, so likely it would.)

Anyway - I went and got this, and am in love with it! I got the Traveler Organ a while back from Soundiron thanks to this place, but it does require the full Kontakt (which I don't have, mainly because I'm saving up for Komplete 11...)

Thanks for mentioning this!

I like this better than my other pump (aka reed) organs -- maybe just because this exact model is the one I've had some experience with at a couple of churches, and they were made not far from where I grew up.

It's funny how many people confuse harmoniums with reed organs -- they aren't quite the same thing, but are indeed similar. The mechanism is different for harmoniums in terms of what drives the air. And I don't think they sound the same at all (especially the Indian ones).

I was surprised to learn that Melodeon is another synonym. That is especially weird as Hammond calls their Melodica a Melodion (yeah, different spelling at least).

Does this require Kontakt 5? I only have version 4 and I tried to "Add Library" per the instructions and got a no library found error from Kontakt 4 (standalone). :(

It works with the Kontakt 5 Player, if that is helpful. As it registers with an activation code, having this in the player might make you eligible for the full version of Kontakt 5 for a substantial discount.

The link says it's available until Dec 31. It may not be limited to a certain # of licenses. At that price, I'll take three. ;) Thanks for the info!

I had the free Kontakt 5 Player installed. As soon as I entered my Komplete 11 serial number to the new Activation app, it said I had the full version of Kontakt 5 installed. Sure enough, I now did.

Anyway, it does say that it works with Kontakt Player 5.6.5 so you can put off any update till you're ready--if that day ever comes.
