Console master/slave controls not working?

Post by Robert Randolph »

I'm not sure how much of a response I'll get, but here it goes...

Using DP's consoles feature I either don't understand how this aspect works or it's bugged:
  • Create a console
  • Add 2 faders
  • Set both faders to control audio tracks (not necessary, but easy to see the issue)
  • Set Fader 1 to Master group A
  • Set Fader 2 to Slave group A
  • Set Fader 2 to 100% offset or scale
Not only does Fader 2 not scale properly based on Fader 1, but any time I simply touch Fader 1, the value of Fader 2 increases.

Is there a trick to get a control to properly scale the value of another control or is this just broken?

when controlling audio tracks a null point may need to be set - maybe because 0 on audio faders is not at nadir or apex.

"but any time I simply touch Fader 1, the value of Fader 2 increases."
not seeing this issue.

Strange. I can make this happen consistently.

I'll try again in a bit here and post very detailed instructions of what I'm doing.

I followed the directions in my original post precisely and this is what happens...

Image

The left fader is Master A. Right Fader is Slave A.

Slave is set to offset at 100%.

You can see the slave fader jump whenever I click the master without moving the fader.

I guess what's happening is that the slave is being offset/scaled by the current value of the master, rather than the delta of the movement. If that's the only behaviour... that's really useless :(

Also, setting master fader null points does nothing for me. Reset doesn't work on them at all.

Ok, the issue only seems to occur when the slave is controlling a parameter of an audio track.

If you leave them to control MIDI, they work as you'd expect.
