Can't copy MIDI track does not match the aux track
I opened a MIDI file (exported from Sibelius, General MIDI). And want to add virtual orchestra to it.
But when I try to copy the content of the MIDI track to a new Instrument Track I get the error:
You can only merge into tracks whose types match the tracks on the clipboard. The MIDI track 'Organ' does not match the aux track 'Philharmonik 2-1'.
I have searched the forum but couldn't find this error mentioned.
thanks for helping with my question

You can either assign your orchestra VI to the imported MIDI track or create a new MIDI track. You can't copy or paste MIDI data into an aux track or an audio track.
Hope that helps!

Re: Can't copy MIDI track does not match the aux track
Thank you for the fast reply.
Unfortunately when I click the Output, it does not list the Virtual Instruments and I cannot assign to them.
They are only showing up when I add a new instrument track.

Thank You!
Adding the instrument track did the trick and I could assign the imported Sibelius MIDI tracks to it.
Much appreciated, been a while since I did any of this.

Re: Can't copy MIDI track does not match the aux track
Try this.
Under Project, select Add Track and hold the mouse button down and glide to the right and select Instrument Track. Another menu should appear to the right to allow you to add the exact VI that you want to assign to.
This will not create an auxiliary track but an actual audio track with the VI's name listed to the right of the default audio output. (If your tracks overview is set this way.)
Now on the imported MIDI file when you select Output (to the left of the MIDI track), you should see the VI's name to select and, probably, multiple MIDI channels. Assign whichever MIDI channel is active in the VI and it should play.
Assigning instrument tracks does not involve an aux track, at all.

I still ask questions, too, and I've been a user since Performer (not Digital) since version 1.01! 1983-ish.
