Spooky!

Post by SMS »

I know it's not Halloween yet, but I had really spooky experience last night in the Studio.

I was working (in the lab) late last night....

Anyway, I'm working on Christmas stuff and needed sleigh bells (of course!). After searching all my sample libraries, I finally found 'em in my East/West Hollywood Orchestra Diamond library. Great. So I'm recording the part, it's taking too long, these samples fire really late and it's hard to get it in the pocket... I start hearing murming voices. I stop, say "Hello..." - I must have imagined it.... Every time I start recording again, I hear it... after four or five times I get up, go look outside, etc. no one..

Then I play the samples again by themselves- I guess it uses 'round robin' sample firing, because at the end of every third sample mapped to E2, there's some guy saying what sounds like "I agree". LOL. Thanks for the sloppy editing, East/West.

Anybody got a recommendation for good "ghost free" sleigh bells?

There are sample sharing sites. You'll find a lot of odd stuff and rubbish, and on some sites, you'll need to be wary of pirated sounds, but I've been able to find useful sounds from time to time when I'm going to use a sound for a few seconds once and never again. There is usually some ratio of contribution to downloads, but you can often get a few simple sounds with no obligation to share anything. Freesound.org list 48 sleigh sounds. One of them might do what you want.
