IMO Falcon actually has more functionality than Mach5,what it doesn't have is the ability to import & utilize as many file formats as Mach5.
Well, the import function in Mach5 is a bit dated. E.g. only does Kontakt up to V4.
All true—which is why Falcon is not a real update to M5. If it were, I'd buy it.

MachFive doesn't support UVI libraries released in 2015 and later but the free UVI player does. Since neither it nor Falcon support current versions of Kontakt libraries, I'm waiting till the next decent sale price from NI. Perhaps if Falcon supported ESX24 but it doesn't do that either.

SUPPORTED FILE FORMATS (Falcon)

Soundbanks (.ufs), AIFF, FLAC, MP3, MP4 (with QuickTime installed on Windows for MP3/MP4), REX1, REX2, SDII (on Mac), WAV, WAV64, SFZ, SND, CAF

Compatible library / file formats (MachFive 3.2)

AIFF
ACID
Apple Loops (.aif)
REX
SDII
WAV
Akai MPC
Akai S Series
E-mu Emulator III and IV
Ensoniq ASR
EXS24
GarageBand
GigaSampler 1/2/3
Kontakt 1/2/3/4.0
Kurzweil K2xxx
MOTU Symphonic and Ethno Instruments
Roland S700 Series
SampleCell
SoundFont
UVI UFS*
*Please check with UVI for MachFive 3 compatibility before purchasing any UVI products.

What I really wish I had purchased was the IRCAM time stretch, as a stand-alone application. They had it for like $99 or something and unfortunately I didn't jump.. now I don't believe it's available anymore.

If Falcon could be used stand-alone for that purpose (i.e. dropping in real audio files and processing them for export, etc.), I'd get it just for that.. guess I wouldn't really have much use for it otherwise, other than for when Mach Five falls out of orbit and burns up in the atmosphere.

It's still available for $249 except at AudioDeluxe for $199 (does another reseller have a better deal?).

Since the older version of TS works standalone in M5, it makes sense that the current one would do the same in Falcon. Yes? If that can be verified, then that's not such a bad deal and still $20 less at $179.00.

I don't think that $99 from 2014 is coming back.

Huh? How can it be used as a plug-in? Is that what you meant?

Did standalone not make sense?

Yes, TS works just fine in the standalone version of Falcon.

Clearly I'm missing something here. The TS works standalone but "in" Mach5 or Falcon confuses me. Are you accessing TS inside of those VIs? I thought it was only a standalone app.

Yes, the IRCAM stuff works inside M5 and Falcon in both standalone and plugin modes.

Not seeing the plugin. Is it in the M5/Falcon Mixer FX?

I'm talking about M53 or Falcon as a plugin. They both can be used as a standalone synth/sampler or as an audio plugin inside DP.
