Random chunk switching

Post by supersonic »

My chunks keep switching more or less randomly while I play in MIDI notes. It doesn't happen at any particular moment but I always when I stop playing.

Go to the Setup menu>Commands window. Uncheck "Master Master".

So I had this massive project up today with a lot of VIs, and I played some notes on my controller, and..

But before I got too upset, I remembered this thread. Big thanks to M Dave for posting this solution!

What I don't get is why this will just start happening, in the same project I've worked on for days?

I don't exactly know what "Master Master" is (unless it's related to I Dream of Jeannie), but I wonder if it shouldn't possibly be turned off by default? Just sayin

lol, that's what I thought it did!

At least we have a button to turn it off, unlike that poor guy.

That's a very old horse.

For whatever reason, sometimes DP will set a note to load a chunk.

Very easy to find and erase in DP Command Window.
Search for the word "chunk" in C.W., and you'll find the culprit in seconds. Erase the note in C.W., and voila.

I bet that a keyboard shortcut does the setting: a note associated with a chunk. Never found why, nor how.
In my experience it's always a F# note. Go figure ...

Coincidentally, just watched Bram Stoker's Dracula, the Francis Ford Coppola version of this old tale, in which Tom Waits' Renfield is super. Gary Oldman as Dracula is awesome, Anthony Hopkins delivers with twisted humor, and I liked Winona as well.

Music and mood was sexy and scary. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojciech_Kilar

Not all were superb... Writer Nathan Ditum included Keanu Reeves in his 2010 countdown of "The 29 Worst Movie Miscastings", describing him as "a dreary, milky nothing...a black hole of sex and drama." As Wikipedia notes, "Reeves's attempt at London vernacular has been cited as one of, if not the, worst accents in the history of recorded film." I can't disagree, but overall, a great, fun flick IMHO.

How's THAT for random chunk switching? :sorry:

I concur. Dreamy.

I was interested to read how Coppola eschewed the use of modern digital special FX, sticking with older techniques. Reminds me I am still searching for an inexpensive DAW clock that does varispeed...

Hmm. That doesn't seem to be it. No notes there. But the tip is definitely worth while saving :-)
