Can you open 9.1 projects in 9.02?

Post by Babz »

I'm thinking of going back to 9.02 until some things get fixed in 9.1. I haven't done much in 9.1 yet, but would rather not have to recreate the project if I don't have to. Questions...

:?: If I worked on a project that was started in 9.02 and then opened and worked on and saved in 9.1, can I go back and open and work on it in 9.02 without problems?

:?: What about a project that I newly created in 9.1? Can it be opened and worked on in 9.02?

:?: Are things fully backwards compatible?

Thanks,
Babz

I've got both installed on my system and have been bouncing back and forth. So far I haven't seen any problems with either new or old projects. As far as I can tell they are fully compatible.

All? None of the new features, of course. Most? Sure.

If you've saved a 9.1 feature, you'll get a "...missing, ...not found... Do you want to continue?" error. It's the same as opening a 9 project in 8 or 7 and finding a missing feature in the older Trim plug.

Like having DP 8 and 7.24 on the same Mac, you can have both versions of DP 9 on the same machine as long as you rename one of them. Just call it Digital Performer 9.1.app instead of the default Digital Performer.app. No need to re-partition or anything like that.

Thanks for that clarification, Mike. I should have been more careful with the term "fully compatible."
