Keyboard Commands for Mac Wireless Keyboard?

Post by oceantracks »

Sorry to be a dummy, just revisiting getting involved with DP again, and now have an Apple wireless keyboard. I can't seem to find a legend of basic keyboard commands for moving forward, back, return to zero, or whatever and wondered if there is a listing somewhere?

Thanks much

The Commands window is your friend. Search for the feature you're interested in and set (or discover the factory) command. There are so damn many key commands available to be assigned that the only method I know of is Shooshie's, which is to print the commands window AND STUDY IT! I lost patience after a while and just find and use the ones I need. The numeric keys are often used for transport (stop, play, pause, few ffwd rev frev, etc.)

The problem with the Apple wireless keyboard, is it doesn't have a numeric keypad. That is where MOTU has put most of these commands for DP. Of course, as per above, you can program new key combinations. Or you can add a standalone numeric keypad, or a get a keypad simulator for an iPad so you can use the default keyboard shortcuts for these commands.

Or get a GOOD wireless keyboard, like the Logitech K750-Mac. (actually has Mac-like keys) It's solar powered, never change batteries, and it is always connected via a receiver that plugs into a USB port or hub. And... it has a numeric keypad.

You left out a key feature: It has an off switch—most useful if a cat is on your desk.

Thanks for the great tips!

I'm SLOWLY trying to learn DP ....some of it looks like an old friend (I used Performer back in the Eighties!) but still trying to get around and learn the basic of audio on it. I'm a Pro Tools guy.

But I simply love the scoring features, and the multiple chunks possible in one file. That's just too neat.

So I may have more dumb questions;)

Thanks again
