HCMarkus wrote:Was it my imagination, or does the Steadman result in stronger sibilants? I have one, but these days, my favorite pop filter is the "We Are The World" coat hanger with pantyhose. It does a nice transparent job with the plosives. It is light weight and easy to position where I want it. I like the low-tech vibe it imparts amid the tubes and flashing lights. And the occasional humorous references (depending on the client) are fun, too.
You might be right on the sibilance—never know if that's real or my imagination. Now I suspect it's real.

I have both and go back and forth. The Steadman works great for me with a few inches or more distance. For close up or voice over with a ribbon, I prefer the nylon—I have an old el-cheapo frame that lets me mount one as a 2-layer screen.

With problem talent, I place the Steadman on the client side and the nylon towards the mic.

It had been years... thanks for posting that Terry. I concur with your assessment; an amazing grouping of talent, and great utilization of the variety of vocal timbres.

Although I've heard the song countless times, I had broadcast at home... I've never seen that video before except for snippets on the evening news and stills in the trade and recording mags.

Wow!

Wow!
I hadn't seen that in ages. It was a very nice thing to do. I LOVED it when I was a kid.
Does anybody know if they reached their goal to help African nations?
What did they actually accomplish?

It would certainly be nice to do something similar again, but with today's artists. I mean, it's not like 11,000,000 children don't die of starvation and preventable diseases each year anymore (that's 20 deaths every minute of every hour of every day of every week) :(

Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

Thanks for posting that. It rocked my iPad!
Too bad there weren't any Jacksons there. :?

No, really, I'm usually not one to glance at celebrity types, but seeing them all in that room together reminded me that those we choose to entertain us are a small group, and they represent our cultural life at any given point in time. That video made me nostalgic for what now seems like a much simpler time. (I'm sure we didn't think so, then)

Also, it reminds me that we never need be without a pop filter. Thinking back on the times I've ordered one a day late.
