NAMM 2016 David Das DP video

Post by musicman691 »

I know NAMM 2016 is long gone but I just got an email notice of a video that David Das did there showing music production workflow for a rock trailer cue.

If that's his NAMM demo this is what I've been waiting for. It's gold.

I'm pretty sure I saw this right after NAMM, so I don't think it's just now getting out. Or if it is, I saw something very much like it, because I remember this being the showstopper for me. I immediately came to the forum and wrote about this being the raison d'être for DP9. And it has been amazing, I must reaffirm! I forget about it day-to-day, but this has been the freest I've felt when using VIs. We've got 64 bit memory addressing, super low latency and great CPU throughput & transparency.

Yeah, I know DP still doesn't let you put a straightjacket on yourself by making your MIDI all a single object and snap it to the grid. (yes, of course you can do it in other ways, but that requires a little knowledge, and who wants that?) And it still doesn't allow you to hobble your workflow by making a single track suffice for MIDI, Instrument, and Audio, but I should think that this improved data flow and the resultant power it brings to a single workstation without slaves should be enough to make anyone happy. But I do know never to overestimate happiness.

This video might have been a repost but the posting date on YouTube was at the time I posted here. Still good no matter what.

Not supposed to be... It's LaPoint bringing up the LOW LATENCY... HARDWARE INSERTS. Sorry just wanted to bring up the low latency thats coming soon... Did not mean to hijack your thread.

Should have said this is the best 3 minutes of ALL the NAMM show DP videos.

I wish they would release Frank Ferrucci's NAMM presentation.

That would be a good one. That's assuming it was recorded to begin with.
