New Metagrid for iOS control of DAW....do me a favor
Hey folks....there is a new iOS app from the guys at Arts | Unmuted that use to create setups for Lemur for folks to easily control their DAW software. They are now starting a new company for a new app called Metagrid that looks amazing. http://metasystem.io .
Here is the kicker. They natively support Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Cubase and Studio One but NOT Digital Performer. Probably because they are an Eastern European company where DP is not at the top of anyone's user list there. We need to see DP on that list. Can you all go to their website and email them (at the bottom) a request that they add native built in support for DP9? Their program SHOULD already work with DP...it should work with anything that listens to key commands, MIDI controls or CC data or macros....but for use DP users we would have to start programming basic functions from scratch like Lemur...which is a huge tech barrier to entry for many folks. But for those other DAWs listed above...all default key commands of most functions are built in for each DAW as well as icon sets that match the DAWs. Thus for those programs they have made it incredibly easy to set up and add touchscreen buttons for your shortcuts. That is all we would be asking for. The same integration their other DAWs have.
I have already wrote to them at info@metasystem.io and requested native DP integration & support and reminded them how many top professional Film & TV folks use DP. I figure if we all politely and professionally do this, maybe they will get the hint to not ignore MOTU and DP as a DAW "worthy enough" to integrate into their app.
What do you all say?

They responded saying they got quite a few injuries from the LA area today. Small surprise...

Hello!
I've sent a mail to Metagrid Team and here is the reply:
"we investigated the possibilities and yes, we will implement the support for DP in Metagrid v1.1:-). At this very moment we are working on the DP commands list."
He said too that they have a lot of request for DP these past 3 days...
Thank you Brian for the campaign!
it looks ggod

They announced on Facebook that either the first release or the first update would include support for DP. All commands and some DP specific icons.bayswater wrote:How so? Anyone know the price?
Re: New Metagrid for iOS control of DAW....do me a favor
Same question here. It isn't actually available at this point (for any app).MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Anyone know the price?
And what does it actually do that other products like Custom Keypad don't do? I see that it will come with some DP specific icons -- so that's a help, I had to make my own -- but I don't understand what it means to include the key commands. Do they package up some screens that have commands and icons specific to DP so you don't have to enter them?
With other products you enter whatever key command you want, and if you have customized your key commands this is what you have to do anyway, and presumably you'd have to do it with Metagrid unless you're happy with the defaults and the commands they choose to put in the DP template.
