TO window stuff

Post by Phil O »

I accidentally option-clicked on the input column in the TO and the number 4 appeared. Upon further messin' 'round, I noticed input and output assignments (for audio tracks) do this. They seem to be the bundle numbers - with the numbering starting with outputs then continuing to inputs. Changing the order in the bundles window changes the numbers. You can also select a bundle by entering the number in the TO, although I can't imagine why you would. Anyone use this feature for anything?

Once, I accidentally option-clicked in the output section too, being able to change the bundle name right there... But it was a BAD idea... I don't remember what exactly happened, other than me having to delete and re-import all the bundles 'cause they got messed up (it could've been the numbers you refer to got somehow divorced from the real names of the bundles).

I'll try it and see if this works now, as it could be a very handy shortcut to rename bundles instead of having to do it from the Bundles window.

Perhaps this is also related to how one DOES NOT see the bundle names when navigating the side chain I/O menus. For some reason, in those, one sees NUMBERS instead of NAMES.
I don't like it because I use names, not numbers, for a reason. I wish we could see the real bundle names everywhere, including the situation you just mentioned.

Those numbers are the bus numbers. What I'm seeing is what I call the bundle number (unrelated to what bus is used). Your first output in the bundle list will be "1" second "2", etc. If you only have two outputs, your first input in the list will be "3", but if you add an output, that will change to "4". Confused yet?

I've always thought this would be a useful feature if it mirrored the bundle names, say, if you added the Control Key or something. There must be a reason why it's there, which I've never really stopped to figure out, but I don't know what it is.
