Delay desire

Post by SMS »

This is a frustrating plug. Many times, I want delay times that are based on a metric value (e.g. eighths), but with a slight offset. Like, maybe left side = 1/8, right = 1/8 + 25ms. It sure would be nice if the plug would let you set it for beats, and then when you switch back to an absolute value, it would just stay put and show the ms value of that previous beat setting. It's annoying to have to use my calculator to figure out beats=ms when DP just did it for me without telling me the value, and, yes it's not that hard to do by ear, but....

Or how 'bout just "metric value + offset" mode?

Or how 'bout when set to beats, the display could just show "1/8, 163ms" for example?

Anyone else feel me on this?

Thanks

Bill

100%

Might be tricky since tempo might not always be so black & white (i.e., a constantly changing conductor track, or syncing to external tempo, etc.) But even if it just showed you the current/last-received tempo, that would be useful.

I think your solution of having a secondary offset control is a pretty nice workaround.

On the topic of Delay desires, I'd also love it if the Mix parameter offered 10ths or even 100ths of a percent. Sometimes when I just want a quick insert of delay, I want a very low mix, and it is somewhere between the numbers available. So inserting delay is never an option, because there's no way to control the mix level enough.

I was just going to post that link. Anyone try this? I don't have time to load the demo yet, but it sounds interesting.

The interface on that thing looks fantastic. Super informative, detailed and immediately clear to what is happening.

I don't think I have any 3rd party delays, much less one with modulation. This looks very cool. Thanks for mentioning it!!

I've got the 608 - good stuff.

At that price, 'tis a no-brainer.

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Yes, at least at the bottom end of the scale.

Have you looked at Eventide's Anthology bundle? It includes some wonderful delays.

The more you buy over the years, the greater your discount. It gets applied when you log in and go to the store.

Now that you have purchased something, you will see an additional discount the next time you add something to the cart.

SMS must have purchased more than I have. My price is $28.18.
