Sound Toys 5
OK I just purchased Sound Toys 5 off someone for a ridiculously good price. I was wary before I did, as all I used before this was Little Microshift, which sounds great, but the accolades they get here and other places always has impressed me.
First impressions, HOLY MOTHER OF!!!
These plug ins are like the FX equivalents of a Moog synth or vintage Marshall stack to me, everything you put through them sounds great, it's near impossible to dial in a bad sound. I can't believe they sell this bundle for $499 and I can't believe this guy sold me his license for as little as he did?? I would have instantly bought the bundle for that price had I demoed them.
Anyway I'm glad I bit!

I think our engineer would quit if we took away his soundtoys. Superb stuff.
And FYI for those upgrading, we did the upgrade on one rig of our 3 sound toys rigs here so far, and everything went just fine. Their instructions were pretty detailed. Engineer says it is working great with no issues seen thus far.

Love Soundtoys and the upgrade was a no-brainer for me. Btw, there is a 5.01 update that addresses some minor recall issues.

This is all great to hear guys; thank you.
I posted the full-bundle sale (valid 'til December 31 IIRC) in the plug-offer sticky thread barely a week ago, and I'm now convinced it'll be in the MonkeyLab™ by year's end.

Re: Sound Toys 5
Looks like I already have all the plugins with 4. Why would I upgrade to 5? Only the new rack is added. Are there other improvements that make it worthwhile? Am I missing something?

I don't, def a question for the developers.dix wrote:Looks like I already have all the plugins with 4. Why would I upgrade to 5? Only the new rack is added. Are there other improvements that make it worthwhile? Am I missing something?
The rack is pretty handy, worth $50 if that's all the upgrade costs.

Re: Sound Toys 5
Hmm, could've sworn I posted a review recently. Maybe someone started a new thread instead of keeping the old one alive?
Anyway, the upgrade is well worth it. MUCH better performance now, LOTS of new presets (though most of the old ones are deleted so you might need to recreate them side-by-side OR import them using the technique provided by SoundToys, which I printed out but don't have time to type in from scratch right now), and better sound quality overall as well as a significant number of bug fixes.
Also, one of the "Little" plug-ins (I forget which one: Radiator, maybe?) got joined by its full-sized sibling. So there actually is new content, even if you already owned all of their plugs.
The new stack mode promises to make multiple SoundToys plugs performant. In the past, I would often have trouble if using more than one at a time on a particular aux or audio track.

Upgrade price is $85, but it looks like you have to upgrade at least one plugin if you only have the "little" versions. Minimum upgrade price for me is $144Michael Canavan wrote:I don't, def a question for the developers.dix wrote:Looks like I already have all the plugins with 4. Why would I upgrade to 5? I did not own the complete version 4 set, and only had to "trade in" three version 4 plugins to get the $50 price.nk_e wrote: It's $50 if you already own their full set of plugs. That's what I paid.

Correction: Actually it is just $85 to upgrade for those with just the "little" versions. ...the checkout form is somewhat counterintuitive in that you must select ALL the plugins to get the cheaper price.Upgrade price is $85, but it looks like you have to upgrade at least one plugin if you only have the "little" versions. Re: Sound Toys 5
Did this upgrade and now none of the delays or ambiences in any of the SoundToys plugins have tails when I stop the sequence. Stopping or Pausing cuts off the delay. Any one else getting this? ...yes, I'm running in real time.

Re: Sound Toys 5
It's a little confusing in that you "give up" a few licenses, but not all of them.
I would just as soon have given up all of them, to reduce confusion and so that my ilok2 doesn't get filled up too fast.
