Freeze track options to recover resources?
I'm trying to find a method to recover sys resources with a mix that is slowly bogging down.
If I use "freeze tracks" I get a new track added that has all insert plugs printed from the original.
I also get mutes and volume info written to this audio.
I don't want this so I have to disable any volume settings or rides before printing and whack the fader at zero.
This then gives me a new track with the plugs written to audio.
But..
Any volume and send volume/pan/mute information is not copied to the new track.
So I have to then copy this automation to the new track.
With many tracks this is a large p_i_t_a
The alternative is to transfer the frozen audio track back to the original track, re enable it and then blow away the plugins.
Again a p_i_t_a
Any other options?
It would be brilliant if there was an option to freeze a track to its current location without volume and mute information.
Cheers, Bolla

Well, I haven't started using VIs just yet, Adrian, but this seems like a perfectly-logical request to me.
I'm surprised the option to customise the amount of automation rendered isn't there...

Re: Freeze track options to recover resources?
bit confused. You say you DON'T want volume info copied over into your new track, but you then say you WANT the volume automation copied over??
Obv misunderstanding, but are you saying that you only want certain amounts of automation copied into the new file when freezing??

Disable automation while freezing should do that. The current settings will be used. You can't have it both ways. You either print automation or you don't. Depending on what's bringing automated, you could route the VI to an aux track, automate the aux track, then mute the original and bus the freeze to the aux track.

When you freeze a track it uses the volume automation and mutes and then converts that to audio.doodles wrote:bit confused. You say you DON'T want volume info copied over into your new track, but you then say you WANT the volume automation copied over??
I need to keep that as automation along with all the send automation.
To me it is odd that the default is to use the volume and mute automation.
Could just be me.
It would be great if the plugins only could be easily rendered to the audio.
...without the need for the three card trick.
