Pitch Shifter Recommendation?

Does anyone have a recommendation for an audio pitch shifter?

I don't usually shift audio by more than a second or a third. I've tried DP's Spectral Effects, which usually sounds pretty bad, and DP's transpose function isn't usually much better to my ear. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I've never found a way to transpose audio cleanly within DP (time-stretch—yes, but transpose—no).

How are you guys doing it? Maybe using something within DP that I'm not seeing, or using something from a third party?

IrcamLab TS = amazing too.
Also great for time stretching...

Probably need to make some differentiation between polyphonic source material vs. monophonic source material. DP's pitch works well for single notes. Chords or mixes are a task for different software (see above).

IRCAM? Hmmmm.... haven't tried bring the audio into MachFive 3. Would MF3's IRCAM effects offer the same solution?

Absolutely you can use MachFive 3 for high quality IRCAM pitch shifting.

Pitchwheel by Quickquack works reasonably well for a plugin. For something quality MachFive3's ICRAM is my go-to.

In case I am missing something, you are talking about a wholesale pitch shift and not harmonizing, correct?

I find that the AUpitch plugin from Apple isn't too bad.

Looks like bringing samples into MachFive3 and pitch-shifting there is the way to go.

Without testing them all, I would guess that this is the method of choice. IRCAM's research has yielded some of the finest audio solutions in the digital world. I rarely have to do anything like this, but when I do, I use MachFive-3.

Out of curiosity: Is there a way to use MachFive 3 to, for example, timestretch/timecompress a 4-minute long file? Or is that sort of job solely the province of external solutions?
