DP 9 - Motu Audio System turning off repeatedly

I have seen this a few times as well.

I had that happen on a system a while back. I reinstalled the latest audio driver, and it went away.

I have the same issue and my interface is an Ultralite AVB. Never had this with any previous version of DP at least not at the frequency it happens now.

Please tell Motu about this. It is definitely a DP 9.xx something or other issue. When I reported it, they suggested checking all physical cables, interfaces, etc. Which all turned out to be fine. It is DP9.x

Happens here 4-5 times per week.

Any earlier version of DP, and hardware stands locked forever.

Also returning here as of today. And I wasn't running DP at the time, but Finale. It has also happened when neither ws running. Time for a driver update, MOTU... PLEASE!!!

I didn't get a warning, but had several instances of complete drop outs, then lockup during a session today.

Could have been the Firewire cable... I had no more problems after reconnecting my 828mkII to my Firewire 400 card (had been using the Mac Pro's built-in FW800 for a while without problem until today.)

I'll report back if the issue raises it ugly head again.

My Track 16 is connected to TB via a TB to FW converter. If I pull the plug (hot) and plug it back in it will connect almost immediately. I recall talking to MOTU years ago in Yosemite (I believe) and the ad ice was "first on; first off" if I recall that correctly. Turn the sound device on before boot up; turn it off before shut down. That does seem to stablize things somewhat. I was generally in the habit of doing so, but may have "slipped" a few times, resulting in the disconnect. Might be worth trying for people with the problem.

I don't know that it is a MOTU driver problem...I'm using an Apogee interface and don't have the MOTU drivers installed.

MAS shuts down on a regular basis as described.

I just restart MAS, but it is a pain and interruption.

Sierra 10.12.3.

DP 9.02 (until Motu lets us disable pre-gen globally again).

I did try it on DP 9.1x, and had the same MAS problems before I went back to 9.02, where I'm having them there also.

At first I was wondering if it was happening when I opened Finale or Sample Manager while DP was also going, but I notice it ALWAYS happens if I leave DP on overnight or idle for a long time?

I kind of sense it's not a driver thing, though I'm no expert.

It only started happening (at least to me) with the advent of DP 9. and it's revisions.

It still does it in Finale and even the Finder when iTunes is the only thing running. Must be Apple's problem.

Got a note from Motu that they are on this issue, but have yet to reproduce. Please send them your specific info when you get a minute.
