DP6 was the worst DP release. It barely worked for me in the OS it was designed for.

DP 6.03 will run on Yosemite as will DP 5.13. You must install and authorize it in OS 10.6 with Rosetta, then update the OS to Yosemite. If your system is hosed for any reason, you would have to go back to OS 10.6 again. In other words, you cannot restore from Time Machine and have it work since you will not be able to re-authorize the software.

You cannot authorize any version older than DP 7.24 in OS 10.7 or later.

The metronome didn't even work right in DP6.

I'm not kidding. The metronome. In a program designed to sequence events in time, the time keeper was busted.

I won't go there except to say that DP 6 was the current version when...

Let's just say that I ran screaming back to DP 5 which, as I mentioned, also runs on Yosemite if installed on 10.6.8 first and the OS is updated.

So, the real question is whether DP6 ever really ran at all. Some say that later patches fixed it up nicely, but I was very unsettled until DP7, which was perhaps the greatest .0 release of all time.

That was pretty good. And 7.24 installs and authorizes on Yosemite, too.

Actually, I had a minor issue this morning with that. I have my new 2T 850 EVO up and running (still via eSATA), restoring everything from a Tim Machine backup. OK, time to reauthorize DP 7. No matter what I tried, my CD would not authorize in my internal Superdrive. I tried a CD cleaner disk in the SuperDrive, cleaning the CD (which looked fine) … it made a lot of noise but nada. I fired up my usb external CD burner and it behaved. Weird. The Superdrive is slow but otherwise works on everything else I threw in.

DP 7 is the last app I use that still requires disk authorization. I'm not missing that in later versions. Not at all…
