Automation Question

Post by Rick Cornish »

When inserting automation on an effect plug-in (using the Sequence Editor), how can I insert a "Bypass" command that controls the Bypass switch in DP's "shell" (and thus, is indicated on my mixing board—which is nice to be able to see as I mix) as opposed to a command that controls a Bypass switch inside the plug-in?

When I select "Insert" for the track and specify the plug-in, I only get a Bypass control for the bypass button "inside" the plug-in's UI.

I'm not on 9 and am just throwing this out- could you attach a MIDI controller and then automate that? Or possibly use consoles? I'm grasping here. It's a good question though.

Thanks for the idea, Phil. I think I'd have the same problem assigning control to the right "Bypass" switch.

Not exactly the same methodology, but when inserting plugin bypass by clicking on the insert slot in the mixer itself, that seems to work for me. You can then fine tune its placement in the sequence editor. I believe that will give you a bypass you can "see" in the mixing board.

Brilliant!

That does it. Good work-around. Thanks, Carlos.
