Change multiple takes

Post by Chris T »

I've always wanted to do this. I'm still DP8 but I doubt it's available in DP9:

I'd like to be able to change MORE THAN ONE (preferably many) audio or MIDI track takes at once. Also Mass-Delete and Duplicate takes would be handy. I ask because, working on film cues, when doing revisions, it is often necessary to have previous versions underneath as takes in order to reference of farm from previous versions (i.e. takes). When there are hundreds of MIDI tracks (or dozens of audio) this can be tedious...

Well Grouping is your friend.

A quick way to it is to use the temporary grouping feature:
Applicable on either:
1- "All Visible tracks"
2- "All Selected tracks"

I use it everyday.

I made my own custom shortcuts for:

"NEW TAKE"
"PREVIOUS TAKE"
"NEXT TAKE"

hitting the shortcuts changes all tracks that are "ARMED" for record.

The commands window is the best place where you can learn tons of things that DP can do.
It's kinda like a candy store.... YES!!! I can do that and make my own shortcut! :D WOO HOO!

Following up on Dwetmaster's good advice, there are many options and ways of using Track Groups. Read up on that and you can do what you're asking and more.
