Brief and confusing return of Sonic Implants Harp Library

Post by mhschmieder »

There is a confusing and contradictory announcement at KVR today that SONiVOX (formerly Sonic Implants) are BRIEFLY bundling the no-longer-available Harp library with their reformatted Film Score Companion bundle.

As many know, this mysterious release a few months ago took forum members across the world to figure out it was a non-Kontakt repackaging (in ARIA player?) of the former Sonic Implants libraries for Brass, Strings, and Woodwinds that set the industry standard before East/West, VSL, Spitfire and others joined the fray.

I'm not sure whether Big Bang Percussion is a collection of their lesser libraries (which I demoed and felt were good for their time but surpassed by now), or a reissue of the orchestral Percussion library (no longer available) done at the sessions for the other orchestral libraries.

Curiously, KVR gives links to their website for more info, but the info isn't there. In Fact, the Harp is not listed anywhere as part of a package, short-term or otherwise, but is listed on its own for $49 in shrunk form, which makes me wonder whether the full Harp library is being used temporarily in Film Score Companion or this subset version.

Of all of their libraries, the Percussion and Harp (the only two I don't own) were long held to have remained competitive with newer offerings for the longest, and many still prefer these as their go-to libraries, so I've always wanted to add them but they've been unavailable for years.

Does anyone know the story on Big Bang Percussion and/or understand what's up with this "temporary" inclusion of Harp in Film Score Companion, and which version (full or crippled like the $49 offering)?
