Sorry. I should have said 32 Lives and macOS Sierra and earlier. I have no intention of going to High Sierra anytime soon.

Plugin Alliance October Sale

Plugin Alliance has 10 plugs on sale this month.

The Alliance has some good stuff, but I already have most of their products that I’m interested in. However, I am considering EQ Rangers Plus for $19. I had the previous versions, which I liked (simple, fast, and nice-sounding filters). I was disappointed that the Plus upgrade initially came with a steep price tag, but at this price, I’m tempted.

Hmmm... I have the older version, too. Good for slapping on things when in a hurry although I might use something else when I fine-tune. I wasn’t interested at $199 but $19 looks pretty good.

Thanks for the heads up.

Their demo is amazing.

I got the trial version and used it on a couple of live recordings that took me a very long time and a lot of plugins to get into reasonable shape. It didn't do such a great job - very little improvement. I'd use a trial version on material you are likely to want to fix with this plugin before buying.

Thanks for that report, Bayswater.

I too was impressed by that demo, and the absence of the usual artifacts that often accompany that kind of processor. For $60, it seems incredibly useful, but I like your suggestion to run it as a test first.

Go to this page here:

The page is in German. You'll find the download links a little ways down the page, just below the second screenshot of the plug.

I wasn't suggesting other people should just buy it without using it. I did because I'm way more likely to use it as a sound design tool than as a way to de-reverb a track or song. I'm sure it can be used at times for repair etc. I've been amazed at how many times I've used Soundhack Spectral Shapers instead of any of the dedicated de noise plug ins in my arsenal for instance.
Anyway I think it's pretty cool new tech and a great deal at $60. :)

I didn't take it that way at all. I was tempted to get it right away after seeing that demo vid. I thought even if it doesn't quite do everything the vid says, for $60 it might be just the thing for some projects.

I didn't take it that way either. Or else I might have bought it.

Waves Diamond $300

Got that Soundtoys Plate!

Waves Diamond on sale... you can get the whole enchilada for $300.

I remember paying $999 for Waves Gold oh so many years ago. Because Diamond is on sale, I was able to upgrade from what I already had (Platinum + L3) for a cost of $40. Cheaper than taking a WUPping (which is included with the upgrade), and the new Waves Central App worked flawlessly. Much improved since last time I purchased a plug from Waves.

I know a lot of folks like to trash Waves, but I use a lot of their stuff on every mix, so the update plus a few new toys to mess with seemed like a no-brainer for me.

Tempting. I like to trash Waves, but I never found good alternatives to the Ren plugins I use all the time. I could get Diamond for less than half of what I originally paid for Ren V3, and less, ironically, than I've spent on disappointing alternatives so I could drop Waves.
