Make Ruler Grid Lines Visible in Soundbites

Post by stubbsonic »

Is there a quick way to show the basic rulers basic beat lines (vertical) to show through soundbites? I feel like I've been able to see it before, but right now, the way my window is setup I can't. I don't know what I did.

I don't want to see beats (as defined in the soundbite), just from the ruler. I also don't want to see the red error things, but I suppose that might have to do.

I don't think there is any way, quick or otherwise. I've wanted it forever. That, and a shadow image of a the waveform in Soundbite as it is being dragged. Being able to see the relationship between the transients in the waveform and the grid lines while editing or moving objects would be very helpful. My workaround is to put the Counter on the grid line of interest, and use nudge to move the audio or MIDI.

I'm wondering if a different themes will give you relief. Just a guess but easy to try.

I've also wanted this since I started using DP! Some other DAWs have it and its very helpful.
Oh well, no DAW is perfect!

Ah thanks, folks. Yea, I'm often wanting to go through a track visually and find the rhythmic outliers and at least listen to see if they "offend".

The other thing that bothers me is sometimes the reference points I'm using to visually cue where I want things to go will disappear during the drag itself.

Seems like these would be important things for DP to tidy up in V9. I'll put in a request with MOTU. I invite you to do the same.

MOTU's support just confirmed that there isn't a way to do this yet.

Fingers crossed.

I'd REALLY rather do my audio edits in DP than any other DAW.

Look at the demo video. DP 9 will include a spectograph. I expect this to help a lot.

The issue is the same. You can't see a gridline along with the audio graphic.

However, the answer MIGHT be in the layers function. Perhaps they could include a specialized grid as a layer that could be overlaid with the audio display (either waveform or spectrograph).
