Moving Sequence Data

Post by Rick Cornish »

Hi.........
Managed to stump myself today. Perhaps someone here has a suggestion.

Here's the situation…
I'm developing a sequence with several sections. The other day, I created a new section which I later decided didn't really fit with the rest of the piece. Since I liked what was there, I wanted to extract just that section and save it someplace else for possible future use.

I was HOPING to find a way to simply copy the content from the TO and paste it into a corresponding number and type of tracks in a new sequence… which works for MIDI and audio data, but doesn't bring VI or plug-in info along.

I was able to create one clipping for the audio & MIDI data and another for each VI (which captures plugs, patches and settings) and move it over in multiple steps that way. I also know I could duplicate the entire sequence and then delete everything else but the specific section. Just wondering if there's a faster way to do it—possibly in one step. (?!)

Thanks in advance for any ideas you'd care to share.

Yeah, you can select the new section and drag it to the Chunk window creating a new Chunk.
Then delete the old part.

Thanks, Michael. That works for MIDI data, but doesn't bring along instrument tracks… unless I'm doing something wrong.

Are the Instruments Tracks in a V-Rack? Then they are already in a separate Chunk, and accessible to the new Sequence containing the MIDI tracks.

No they are not in a v-rack. Sounds like that might be another way to skin this cat. Thanks, Bayswater.

Barring any other magic solutions, I agree with b.g. "Duplicate Sequence" and trim away what's not needed.
