Is it possible in DP to convert audio passages to MIDI data?

Yes.

Check the manual under "Transposing Audio"..."Converting audio pitch to MIDI data."

I've heard of someone making that work... I think.

It's worth mentioning MIDImorphosis. It's a pretty cheap iOS and Mac OS app. The latest version of the Mac App has a MIDI out port so you can route MIDI back to DP.

I haven't used it yet, and can't compare its accuracy to that of DP's built in conversion. I expect it to be pretty good though. You'd need to probably slide the resulting MIDI just a bit earlier.
