Re: FREE PLUGIN ALERT-ENDS TOMORROW UVI Synsation
A lot of their stuff is high priced, and some is pretty affordable (World, Plugsound Pro, Xtrreme FX) and has always been high quality for the price, IMO. I do like the Contact 3rd party stuff in part because it's less expensive most of the time, but it's often quite specific. A slide guitar can cost a couple of hundred bucks. Two, covering more bases, upwards of $400. Still, when you need it, you need it, and with UVI, the player is free and updated with a fair amount of regularity.
I like to support companies like that.

Be aware, however, that World is redundant with Ethno 2 (UVI confirmed this when I asked), and some of the other libraries are redundant with MachFive (though usually if they upgrade the main product, MachFive users don't get the upgrade for free, such as when the Telecaster library was recently updated). I forget whether the Gongs (or whatever they call that library) are part of Ethno 2 or MachFive.
Xtreme FX is well worth the money. I've been lucky lately in that I've filled in most of the other UVI libraries at well below 50% of the usual price. The Yamaha CP70/CP80 is by far the best one so far, and I own ALL of them. This one is the most flexible with dry/wet blend, acoustic/electric ratio, mic positioning, etc.

You mean World Traditions? But there must be more in Ethno 2 than there is in World?mhschmieder wrote:World is redundant with Ethno 2

I've always been impressed by the blurbs for the releases, and then I see the prices and automatically revert to my default mode: "One day when I'm rich".bayswater wrote:Me too. The prices are a bit too high. But they seem to make a go of it.jloeb wrote:Gonna vent for a minute. Not normally someone who complains like this but:
I have more free stuff from UVI than I've bought (Digital Synsations, Mello, bunch of taster instruments).

I could have bought the entire catalog with the money I spent on lottery tickets.monkey man wrote:I've always been impressed by the blurbs for the releases, and then I see the prices and automatically revert to my default mode: "One day when I'm rich".

... and I could have bought bugger all with the 52c I spent on gambling... when I was 5 or 6 years old.
Mind you, witnessing a female jockey's death up-close, and being the first on the scene (hey, I could run), probably put me off gambling for life.
I still want this thing...
