can single File> Open Recent listings be deleted?
Ok, i know this is not an earth shattering situation. But it bugs me when something i only check for a second hangs around for weeks while i'm working on a group of songs...
i can go a long time w/o even going past the Open Recent drop-down menu.
cheers, 4Lp

I believe if you delete the plist, but you'll loose some other settings. May be another way, but I don't know it.

Nope, there's no way to delete one entry. You can open 10 others and force it off the page!4leafplanet wrote:thank you for replying. i guess its not worth it... only if it was easy. Don't wanna muck things up.
I keep about 50 listings in the Recent menu. I don't like navigating the Finder to get to my files. Too many similar versions of the same thing. Keeping them in the Recent menu means I get the same one every time.

Re: can single File> Open Recent listings be deleted?
The recent file information is stored in the file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.motu.DigitalPerformer/Preferences
For fun I decided to see if I could edit the file to remove an item, and it took me a few tries, but I was able to. I'm protected by Time Machine and a few days off so I felt pretty confident messing with it.
If it's actually bothering you much, then you could try it after backing up that file (and probably your system in case a corrupt Prefs file causes DP to overwrite something else) and hacking away at it. The delineators were fairly obvious if the file was in the middle.
I don't suggest it though. Don't do it.

Keeping a backup of a good (preferred) plist and replacing it to delete just the recent files is a great idea - if it bothers you. The question is: why do you want to do that in the first place? Once that is answered, other suggestions may well abound.

Aww... what's the worst that could happen? Give it a try! How much are new Macs these days, anyway?

Yup. This is the ticket to your Nirvana, Leafster.Magilla wrote:Keeping a backup of a good (preferred) plist and replacing it to delete just the recent files is a great idea - if it bothers you.
Could it be a carry-over from clearing Safari's history after surfing porn?Magilla wrote:The question is: why do you want to do that in the first place? Once that is answered, other suggestions may well abound.
How about Preview's "Open Recent" option after viewing it?
Could it be that 4leaf's wifey (or mother!) has sprung him and he's spooked?
Sorry. An historically-induced sensitivity is all I could come up with, then my imagination ran GirlsGoneWild... I mean, wild.
Perhaps the Leafster could enlighten us; I know I haven't.

Excellent, worked! Cheers
Well it's almost Spring & I'm most definitely spooked... but that's a whole other subject! Now that I've heard DP8 can be purchased w/an included upgrade to 9 i can start thinking the un-thinkable.
