Digital Performer changelogs for major versions?

Post by HobbyCore »

As I just upgraded from v6->8, I was curious on exactly what changed. I can not however find a proper changelog for the v7.0 and v8.0 major versions.

Do these exist? If not, where can I find more information on v7?

I seem to recall these are cumulative. If you update to 8.07, you'll get a PDF with all the V8 changes. Same with the 7.24 update. These are on the MOTU site.

I've only been able to find this: http://www.motu.com/download/download_m ... oduct_id=1

Which has minor version changes, not major version... unless I'm somehow missing something

look at the bottom of this page and expand the Digital Performer link. The full install and update files are large but I thought they contained PDF with all the changes. I don't think you'll find much if anything on bug fixes, but the feature changes ought to be there.

These are the names of the docs I have that contain cumulative changes. They arrived with the updates for the named versions.

oh duh.

http://cdn-data.motu.com/downloads/dp/N ... P_7.24.pdf

Has a cumulative list for v7. v8's changes are in the 'What's New' pdf that accessible from the help menu.

Great. Thanks!

This Read-Me file is for DP 8.07, and includes major changes since version 8.0.

If you study the downloads and search the site, you may find read-me's for other versions; or maybe not. I found these fairly quickly, but I suspect others are imbedded in the updates' download files.

DP 4.12 Update Notes
DP 4.6 Update Notes
DP 5.13 New Features
DP 6.03 New Features
DP 7.24 New Features
DP 8.07 Update Log

PS: I didn't see others' answers before posting mine. Would have posted earlier, but I was juicing some old installers to see if I could extract read-me files from versions 3.11, 2.72, and a couple others. I wasn't able to get any usable information from that. I've now saved the above files together, as this is something I've often wanted to see, myself.

There's a link for 3.1 update notes but when I click on it, I get "access denied" error. A few other links no longer work, also.

I've got a folder full of these things, some of which go back to early versions of DP and even versions of Performer, including press releases, letters, Read-Me files, brochures, etc.

If anyone wants them, I'll post them to my dropbox in an archive. Let me know.

I would love to see them.

I find it very informational to read promotional material. It often highlights awesome features that you may gloss over in the manual.

Ok, I didn't take time to sort out duplicates, though there shouldn't be TOO many of them. There's a lot of stuff here, and it's not even all I've got. There's more that I don't have scanned, or which is scattered across archives. But these are most of what I collected in one place over the years.

The Archive
Warning: It's about 220 MB in size!

Enjoy!

Thanks for this, Shooshie.

A fascinating history, but I was particularly interested in what we can expect from DP9. I had heard about bundling MX4, but somehow exporting to Finale (yahoo!) had escaped me. Good to know.

No one knows for sure what to expect but we can be sure it will be innovative and well thought out. I love nice surprises.

I am hoping it works both ways. If so, then one will also be able scan scores using SmartScore X Pro II and import them into DP.
