DP 7.24 file size growing over 10 MB

ok, I have a lot of edits...
If I want to keep the undo history, what can be done to keep the DP file small ?

Something has to give...
Although that file size is large, it's not unusually large. I have DP files that are 75-80 megs large.
They have lots of edits, and 40 plus chunks.
I guess you could copy the undo folder, save it somewhere else, then delete the content of the original undo folder. That should reduce your file size but honestly, 10 megs isn't a big deal.

Yeah, I'd only worry if it's growing exponentially with each save. There was a bug back in DP5 or 6 maybe where that would occur. I haven't experienced it in years.

There was a long thread on growing project files in the last year. I don't recall the outcome, but doing a Save As to rewrite the project, and pruning the Undo history might have been part of it.

Keep your backup saves to a minimum. Those can explode the size of your project file. The next single largest factor is Undo History. Discard unused audio takes. That can save many megabytes, depending on how often you discard a take. Be careful when you do this. I recommend backing up the entire project file, with audio, before deleting any audio.

You can do sub mixes, reducing entire groups of tracks to one stem, then delete the audio from the groups (back up first!).

With storage being cheap these days, I have to ask: why shrink the file?

I also had lots of edits in DP 4.61 and don't remember the DP file growing so big...
It just scares me...
