I can't wait to hear more! I hope it will have at least a few of the features we have been talking about lately, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up.

eh...

I know its only one pic, but I hope the new features don't amount to just a bunch more bundled plugins that I won't use.
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

I'll be damned. I was expecting at least 8.1 with some new features for free to appease windows users who might have had a bumpy ride. Also, if I remember correctly, DP8 didn't have much in the way of new features other than 64bit, some plug-ins and the windows version to begin with?

I suppose there are no “hard and fast” standards for when a company goes to a new, higher Numbered version of a program.

In my opinion, I would only rename a new version Nine if there were substantial new features.

I seem to recall one .5 version of DP way back when that had Major revisions, maybe 6.5? So even that rule gets broken. No rhythm or reason to the numbering I suppose except for maybe the ability to sell new product by re numbering to a higher number, along with fan fare and promotional opportunites. I will be interested tomorrow to see what new features are coming to make “Nine” progress up from the “old” eight.....
I hope there are new Capabilities incorporated into this already Substantial program....Us users are SO greedy..lol..”more...more....more..... :D

There are plenty of under-the-hood improvements they could make that might not be sexy but would be worth an upgrade fee. This includes longstanding bugs that have never been given priority (something I can relate to as a developer who is slave to other people's decisions about priorities).

I wouldn't mind extra plug-ins as the ones MOTU has been developing of late have surprised me and become important parts of my workflow.

You're thinking of DP 4.5. I remember that was a paid upgrade from 4.1, BTW. That went to 4.61 (or was it 4.62?)

DP 5 went to 5.13. 6 went to 6.03 before MOTU put it out of our misery. Most of us remember 7.24, of course.

Do you think they'll have to do anything to integrate with AVB?

MOTU is certainly going all-in with AVB on the hardware side. 8 of 9 recent products support it; only the 828x does not.

I find this likely, owning a 16A, I feel some integrations have been missing in DP.
