Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
Oh. I thought "Most Requested Features" meant by more than one person.
That's funny. These 10 are the features YOU most often request.
I've got two-- no three:
1. Fix Tap Tempo.
2. Fix everything else, make it all rock solid.
3. Make another velocity change mode (like compression) but just a transfer curve that can be shaped with vectors & curves.

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
What the heck, here's my snivelling two-bobs worth. Been pining for these for years):
1) More and higher quality VIs. Definitely an HQ analogue drum machine sim as well as an acoustic kit(s) VI. Model 12 is sooo limited and pretty much sucks like a two-bit vacuum cleaner IMHO - not what I'd have expected from the Gods of MOTU. A pop / funk brass section'd be a bonus, as would a general-purpose "module" like a Roland or Yammy hardware unit. Most DAWs have one of these, even PooStools.
2) A vocoder. I know MOTU can do it right. Then I'll be able to ditch my Nova which I've hung onto solely for this purpose; it's a waste of space and MIDI and audio I/O.
3) Multiband mastering compressor and limiter. We have the dynamic EQ, MW EQ, so-so MW Compressor and hugely "outdated" MW Limiter. Time for an upgrade. MOTU is capable of blowing the latter two away.
4) Fingerprint-based denoiser. Most every user will make use of this; it'll be indispensable for some.
5) I too very much hope to see click-and-drag elastic audio in the near future. Competitors make it easy; MOTU needs to greatly simplify its system IMHO.
6) Just an "it'd be nice": Match EQ.
I keep harping on about the VI thing 'cause we've seen no additions since DP5.0. I'm sorry to have to say this, but in the current market, this appears to be a case of shooting one's self in the foot. The mastering plugs won't do sales any harm either.

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
Simple ones:
1. Fix Full Screen Mode in Yosemite
Complex ones:
2. Make Track Overview as expandable vertically in size as the Sequences Window. Currently the limit leaves a load of wasted empty space if you only have a few tracks in a Chunk. I would find it better to be able to expand that to a much bigger size - and it would make some of the blocks editing in the Tracks Overview of the data much easier. And would just look better.
3. Make the Play, Record, and other buttons in the Sequences Window much bigger - editing in this window is made more difficult when you want to be able to switch off and on certain tracks as you edit them - the buttons are so tiny it is a real pain. It is crazy when you expand an audio track say to being quite large, but the buttons on the left hand side stay so tiny.
4. Again all to do with size of fonts viewed - the scaling seems wrong when you have data zoomable to quite large but the text everywhere still so tiny. Not all of us can afford huge screens - so a resolution of 1300 and above means the text is tiny.

Update DP Control.
Cheers,

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
Like everyone I have things I would love to see in DP9, though I wonder about the logic of putting out a list when DP8 was announced at NAMM 2012 and we're a little over a week from 2015 NAMM? At almost three years old DP8 is a senior; there's a very distinct possibility MOTU announce DP9 and that some of our requests will be implemented.
On that line looking forward to a possible DP9 announcement at NAMM!

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
1. First, fixing the 2dB step in DP Trim plugin (on some setups only).
2. Buffer size display in control window, please!
I know implementation of this feature will imply to *deal* with third party soundcards' drivers.
But I really need this when going back and forth from tracking to mixing tasks.
3. Keep on being the greatest DAW available on earth...

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
Give me absolute grid mode and I'll actually upgrade from dp6, and perhaps use DP.

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
I want one thing only: Motu, please put the letter names of the notes ON THE NOTES themselves in the MIDI editor, as in Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and Cubase.

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features
Well, if MOTU was to do this, I sure hope they would make it an optional preference. I'd hate this. I'm quite use to seeing the black-notes on the grid as all the visual cues I need for what notes they are.MikeInBoston wrote:I want one thing only: Motu, please put the letter names of the notes ON THE NOTES themselves in the MIDI editor, as in Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, and Cubase.
