DP 8.07 and opening 3.01 OLD files

Post by sg335man »

Hello, I would be most grateful to get any advise on opening Older DP files 3.01 2000/1. When DP opens the file I get the following; DP has encountered an error: Internal error: a connection between two modules was made more than once. (MotuAudioSystem Mass MasModule cpp 426 (18:0)

It only happens on theses older files? Any advise or help would be greatly received. Thanks DonH

I'm not at all sure why you get that error message. I can only suggest what I do when I open ancient archived DP files.

I've had a few old projects in v3.11 that I wanted to open in v7.x or v8.x. Many of them wouldn't open in DP7; sometime projects would just open and freeze, others wouldn't open at all.

So what I did was open them in v4.61 and save, open the saved 4.61 file in v5.13 and save, then open that in v7.2x. Then they behaved normally. Occasionally I'd have a plug that wouldn't load, mainly because of the change from OS9 to OSX.

Of course, this only works if you have all the intermediary versions.

DP 8.07 has tech support. You want to post this in a Tech Link and see what MOTU says about it.

I have some ideas but let's see if MOTU has a simple solution first.

I have files going back to DP 2.71 that still open in DP 8. Yes, some of the old plugins no longer work but those workarounds are easy.

I've opened old DP 3.11 projects in DP 8.07 without a single problem, other than some old
plug-ins I used to have are reported as "missing".

Hard to say what your problem has been - but it may be related to plug-ins that no longer
exist, or busses.
