Downloading as I write. If it's as good as I think it will be, this is a no-brainer. There is no pitch-shift as good as Ircam's as far as I'm concerned.

MOTU licensed it for MachFive. Why not for DP? This would be an amazing tool if it showed up in DP's menus one day. I've always believed that MachFive should be like DP's other half. Like the old relationship cliché, MachFive completes DP. I'd give anything if MOTU would somehow combine the two, bringing Ircam into the mix. Meanwhile, I'll take the plugin for $99.

This doesn't appear as a plugin for DP as well as the stand alone I suppose. It is a lot more user friendly (albeit less flexible in other ways) than MachFive. I'll use this a lot!

I couldn't open it as a demo, so I went ahead and bought the thing. Slightly disappointed that it's not a plugin in DP, but I'll survive. Still looking for that IN-THE-BOX experience with Ircam, where DP is the box.

Authorizing was a little tricky. I had to create folders in the Applications Support folder. Then it authorized.

Will tell more about it as I use it and learn things.

For my immediate purposes, the bounce to disk feature will save me quite a bit of time. I usually have to load a tune into MachFive, set the tempo, playback in realtime to capture it (usually with Audio HiJack Pro) then import it to DP for further integration into the master score. PITA!

I also snagged DSP Quattro today, which should streamline my CD creation quite a bit. DP is supposed to do that as well, but alas I have yet to see it happen reliably and iI so hate Toast...

Those of you who bought it, can you shrink tracks for length as well as stretch?

Watching the demo video, it appeared to me that you can but it is not mentioned anywhere nor is that function demo'd.

Shortening a track in DP creates way too many artifacts once you get much below 90 - 95% of the original time.

Only by .50 but I'm sure you could do it repeatedly if you needed more. I'd send you a sample but all the files I have are political or religious in nature... LOL j/k... It works fine.

50% and still sounding good is fantastic when one is doing voice over. I'll buy it based on that. DP is sketchy below 95% and useless below 90%.

Sometimes you gain clarity by shrinking a VO track over trying to say it faster – have the talent over-pronounce then shrink to fit (from my bag of stupid little tricks that work surprisingly well).

I have been doing it in MachFive but I see IRCAM TS as a time saver. We like time savers around here.

Will DP let you specify it as an external wave editor?

I use the IRCAM stretch feature in MachFive quite a bit, it's about all I use it for. If you haven't switched to the standalone yet, you can simplify the process you describe considerably. There is a popup menu in MachFive that allows you to "Export with stretch/pitch applied." The menu is tough to find -- it's a tiny icon of an old-school floppy disc towards the top right -- but that's the easy way to export a modified audio file.

I would love to have IRCAM stretch incorporated into DP itself as well. I've never been able to stretch audio in DP unless it's a pure, single-note audio track. If you play two notes, or if you try to stretch a mixed file, or one with complicated overtones, I get horrid audio artifacts. I suspect that it's difficult to reliably stretch a complicated mix of edited soundbites all with their own crossfades... but that's what computers are FOR.
