Weirdness with DP/Maschine & individual outs

Post by BKK-OZ »

I set up a new project today - with Maschine as my source for drums/rhythm.

I usually like to break out the sounds to individual outputs, with pads 1-4 going to one stereo audio track, pads 5-8 to another and so on. This then allows me to EQ/treat sounds in DP differently. For example, I usually put 4 different kick sounds on pads 1-4, EQ their audio track with some low-pass, put the mighty Rocket (from Stillwell) on there... giving myself a lot of flexibility and an easy to manage set-up that allows me to fairly simply mix my rhythm parts to taste.

To do this, one needs to set up Maschine so that it sends its pads to separate outputs. This is easy enough - but it is the mapping from Maschine's output labels to DP's bundles that is strange. After an excessive amount of trial and error, I discovered that the following relationships exist:
Maschine Ext 6 goes to a bundle labelled 'Maschine 2: Audio-10 : Insert A 11-12'
Maschine Ext 11 goes to a bundle labelled 'Maschine 2: Audio-10 : Insert A 21-22'
Maschine Ext 12 goes to a bundle labelled 'Maschine 2: Audio-10 : Insert A 23 -24'
Maschine Ext 16 goes to a bundle labelled 'Maschine 2: Audio-10 : Insert A 31-32'

In fact, those (6,11,12 & 16) were the only individual Maschine outputs that I could get to work.
Crazy, eh?

It has been awhile since I have done this, and I haven't gone back to any of my old projects to check if this was the case previously or not. (Though I do recall having to fiddle endlessly previously to get the individual outputs to work, just not sure if it was this same weirdness or something else that troubled me.)

Maybe it's me?
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.
