That's right. I think you can delete the old st 2 libraries after that but I haven't verified that.

In ST2 I only had to point it to where the samples were located on my HD. ST3 copies them to import. Now I have duplicate copies on separate HD's. The pain...

I don't think ST3 is just reading samples, I think it is creating new instruments in ST3 format using the old ST2 samples, and it might be changing the format of the sample, or creating new meta data so they can be read. So it's not going to work the way ST2 did.

That's strange; I thought I wrote up the legacy file conversion process earlier. Glad people figured it out. I deleted all the old stuff after confirming the converted versions work, even given that one error I encountered (which I also thought I had reported on) in SonikSynth.

I see that those who order(ed) through eSoundz get a freebie keyboard library that those of us who preordered directly from IK Multimedia don't get. I suspect it's just collected from all the extra products, which I own, but they do mention they're improved for the ST3 engine, so I guess this means Sonic Reality is preparing new versions of all the stuff like SampleMoog and SampleTron.

... and this new tutorial is free if you downloaded the free Eventide channel strip plugin, and then later took advantage of the free 30 day Groove3 promo they issued when the plugin was updated. The mysterious ways of marketing.

A 3.0.2 bug fix and Sound Libraries 1.0 update was released August 28. You have to log into your user account to find them.

SampleTank (ver 3.0.2) - Release Notes
Changes from version 3.0.1:
• Fixed a bug where key zone ranges were not filled between their root notes for user sample import when the Root Note Selection by Name option was chosen
• Fixed an issue where the library was rescanned unnecessarily
• User sample import and legacy library import is now disabled during the trial period

I can't find release notes for the Sound Libraries update but it contains updaters for both the Mac and PC versions.

Looking at it, I don't see any updates for the Sound Libraries. There is a new sound library for SampleTank 3 Free, released in Sept 2014. But the release date for the SampleTank 3 sounds is July 2014, on the original release date for V3.
