WaveArts 64-bit MAS plugs iLok option!

Post by James Steele »

I know... I know. Some hate iLok. I love it for convenience and not having to reauthorize plugs if I put in a new drive or upgrade computers. Well, hooray! Just found out I could change over for the disc authorization to iLok and changed over for both TrackPlug 5.8 and FinalPlug 5.8. FWIW, that makes me happy!

My last purchase from UVI lets my authorize 3 computers, iLok or two computers and iLok, all through the iLok manager.

Pretty cool.

I have it sitting on my iLok only for now.

I just switched all my Izotope items to the iLok option. I don't get the hate towards it.

I find iLok to be the most convenient way to go back and forth between my studio computer and laptop (which I do often), so I'm glad to hear when companies give us an iLok option.

Not to start a Waves war, but what I DON'T find convenient is now needing (since v.9) a separate USB flash drive just to move their authorizations between my two systems. I know they offer a Cloud authorization too, but that's not convenient for me. I was plenty happy in the past having their authorizations on iLok. I like Waves products, but I don't buy them anymore for this reason.

I'm glad to learn I'm not alone. Honestly, when I have had to replace a hard drive or migrate to another system, it's such a relief to just plug my iLok in and see all my plug-ins work and not worry that they'll bark at me and then I'll have to go to each developer's website and "do the dance"... find out if I've used up authorizations... etc. Plus some of these plugs that are 32-bit and I'm using under 32 Lives, will not authorize any more since going to Mavericks. If I had authorized them before, I was okay.
