AIR instruments are available NOW

Post by David Polich »

The world's best Rhodes VI, AIR's "Velvet", is now available in AU/VST format (as well as AAX).
Velvet also includes Wurli and Pianet electric pianos, and is a hybrid instrument combining samples and modeling. 99 bucks:

Up until now, Velvet (part of the AIR instruments expansion pack) was only available for Pro
Tools. I used it in programming for Sergio Mendes' 2012 album and felt after ten minutes that it was hands-down the best Rhodes VI I've ever come across.

Btw, the AIR website accepts Paypal as payment, and download was quick and trouble-free.
You can authorize Velvet on up to 2 computers, using an unlock code via internet connection. No i-Lok or Syncrosoft dongle needed.

It's nice that it includes the Suitcase, Mk I and Mk II, as most emulations include only Mk I (or the Mk I version of the Suitcase). The Pianet is rarely sampled or modeled either (Scarbee, recently Sampletekk, and either EZKeys or Addictive Keys in a catch-all collection, plus tiny sets in larger non-specialized libraries).

I couldn't get the audio samples to come up. Certainly $99 is very affordable for five e-pianos, but so many vendors are coming out with new libraries, audio samples are always nice.

Reading through their specs, I am guessing this is modeled vs. sampled?

Can't beat the price when comparing to such stuff as the new $300 Yamaha CP-80 library for UVI/MachFive that was just released! That one's way out of line for these times.

Velvet combines sampling and modeling...it's a hybrid instrument. The download is over 585MB. If it was just modeling it wouldn't be much more than 25MB.

Yeah, UVI's CP-80 library is a non-starter at that price.
