2 Channel Strip Windows at the same time?

Post by jamesdunlopmusic »

Hey Folks,

Just a quickie. I'm trying to have two individual channel strips open in a project at the moment. I've got one that's locked to the video audio track but I want another that's the usual free roaming channel one.

Is there a reason why DP is not letting me open 2 up and, if it's a limitation, is there a work around?

Cheers in advance!

That's what the mixer is for.

I know but it's a large template and it's easier to just have 2 on the side right now...!

I would have thought it was easy to do but obviously not...

pretty simple to deselect everything and select just the two tracks you want. Can't see how that's too much more difficult than selecting tracks for a double channel strip. How would one do that anyway?

One way you could make it almost identical: turn on the option for the Mixing Board to auto update to currently selected tracks, then just select two tracks at a time in the tracks window.

how do you get the mixer (and other windows) to update with only the selected tracks?

Use the track selector.

Select your tracks and press shift-m.

For this to work, the mixer must not be opened and not in consoldated view. If it is already opened, a quick shift-m followed by command-w (to close it) can be done just before you really open it. This takes no longer than 1 or 2 seconds.
