A no-brainer as far as I'm concerned. I know that some aren't that excited about Kramer Tape, but it works very well for me and would miss it if I didn't have it.

Anyone jump in about comparisons between Kramer and Slate VTM?

I have both. Modeling an older machine, Kramer is more rustic and forward, and fills a different niche in which you want a more affected sound. Worth having at this price.

The preset they have under Mastering --> Soft Compression..

So good. Subtle, but adds that extra "glue" to the mix!

I use it every time!

Don't forget the WUP will be based on the full retail price. These guys are smart.

+1

That's what I use as well, or one of the other mastering presets. Input gain set to almost zero, Output gain a little less than all the way up. Glue and presence.

True. But WUP isn't as burdensome as it once was, and adding a single product doesn't constitute a huge difference in price. WUP is something I do once in 2-3 years now, usually only when system incompatibilities make it inevitable.

The current model they use for WUP is not that bad. If it expires, you just re-subscribe at a later date when you need new versions. As for cost, that is nowhere near as bad as when they first rolled it out.

I have this Kramer plug, and I just checked my WUP renewal price: $18

I actually got it through the AudioDeluxe website and received the license via email, but I can't get the plug or register the license until the Waves site is up again. I assume it's back up now. I haven't checked yet.

Ah...gotcha. Good!

That guy in the video made a couple of presets for metal drums and master buss for the plug. They sounded good in his video:
