Geist MPC style drum machine for $50

Post by Michael Canavan »

I've used Geist since it was called Guru a few years ago. Great step sequencer for programming in drum lines etc. $50 is 75% off, and I paid $250 for Guru in 2oo6, and $99 for Geist on sale.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

Wow, and here I thought I got a good deal a few months back at fxpansion's sale, buying it for around $100. :-)

Edit: I type WAY faster than most software can handle, so only just now noticed that some non-defeatable "auto-correct" feature changed the name of "fxpansion" to "expansion". In fact, it did it again while I was typing this explanation! Mavericks doesn't like us to have control...

I tried to work with both Geist and Guru (BPM too), but found all of them to be quite wanting - buggy, flakey, variable support, etc. In the end I settled for Maschine (Mikro controller, version 2 software) and am very happy with that investment. It is a bargain @ $50, but I don't really see a future here, so I am keeping that $$$ in my pocket for more 3rd party libraries for Maschine.
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.
