Noob Question - Wav to MIDI
Alright I know I'm lame probably. I can't figure this out though.
I downloaded some samples of a drum machine and they are all in WAV format. What's the easiest way for me to assign each wav file to a MIDI key?

A sampler or sample player software - something like Kontakt or Mach 5. UVI Workstation is a free player.

You can load your own samples into DP's Model 12 drum machine.
More info on that is in the "Plug-ins Guide"

Re: Noob Question - Wav to MIDI
Ok so I downloaded UVI workstation but it doesn't let me assign individual sounds to individual keys. I can't believe how stupid difficult this is to figure out. All I want to do is assign different drum sounds to different keys so I can record MIDI drums!
I guess I should just use garageband because it's the only place apparently where someone online who had a clue made a video.

I seriously don't know what to do. I have tried a million programs and I have read a million forum posts and watched a million videos but I can't figure out how to do this one small thing in MOTU!
Any help is appreciated because I never want to use Garageband again!

Did you try my suggestion?

Re: Noob Question - Wav to MIDI
Model 12 is probably the easiest and quickest. If you want to continue to try UVI, you need to setup a multi (the three bars in the top-middle of the window). You put your samples in the slots and click on the little gear in the upper right to assign key ranges. Click the little box to the left of the key range to activate it and remember that C-2 is C0 minus 2 octaves, i.e. C-2 C-1 C0 C1 C2 C3. You need to click the lokey and hikey to set it. Here's a standard MIDI drum map to help out:stubbsonic wrote:Did you try my suggestion?
