Force a MAS plugin to run AU version?

Post by gravity »

Hi Folks

Having some problems running Volta and was wondering if I'd have better luck running the AU version. I've removed the MAS version from the plug-in folder but the AU does not show up when I try to create a new instrument.

Any thoughts?

Do you have it enabled in the DP Preferences?

Hi BK

I do have it enabled but it says there is a duplicate. I've looked everywhere and can't see one.

Have you looked inside the Components folder to verify that an AU version is there and, if so, there's only one?

I have had issues with Izotope recently where the uninstaller doesn't remove or installer doesn't overwrite the old versions of AU libraries. Izotope knows this is an issue. The workaround is easy (remove the old versions manually) but you have to know what the problem is first.

I have also had issues where components installed in the wrong library which caused problems much later. Make certain that it's the system Library and not the user Library that has what DP is looking for.

Thanks Mike.

The plugin is there but I'll check the rest of your suggestions.

Many thanks

Have you checked the Audio folders in both the main Library and the user Library? Sometimes plugins get installed in the wrong place…

Cheers!

Trash the Audio Unit Info Cache and relaunch DP so the AU plugs will be reexamined.

User/Library/Preferences/com.motu.MotuAudioSystem/Audio Unit Info Cache 64-bit

I'm assuming the Volta AU is 64-bit and you're running 8.06 in 64-bit mode.

Great advice Dan but still no Joy. I have a tech link open so hopefully that'll help.

Many thanks Brian

If Volta is 32-bit, then you do know that it won't show up when DP is running in 64-bit mode, right? You will need to run DP in 32-bit mode. If it still doesn't show up, then you will need to trash the 32-bit Audio Unit Info Cache, just like you did the 64-bit one.

User/Library/Preferences/com.motu.MotuAudioSystem/Audio Unit Info Cache

Notice that it doesn't not have 64-bit at the end of its name.

Hi Dan

Yes I'm in 32 bit mode. As far as I can tell I've deleted the appropriate cache. Still no joy. I have a reply from MOTU about the tech link but can't seem to load the MOTU website. I'm in Spain this week so that may be the issue.

Thanks again Brian

Brian,

You would know if you deleted the correct file because all the AU components would be reexamined when you launched DP. If that didn't happen then you deleted the wrong file.

Hope you get it figured out.
