DP 8.01 makes me happy :) This is why:

Did the switch from DP7.24 to DP8.01 two days ago.

Running DP8.01 in 64-bit is like having an even newer Mac Pro, with even faster drives and even more CPU power!

The spinning "searching the harddrive" beachballs are gone..

DP also opens up superfast with large projects.
Seems like MOTU built in a new harddrive highway.

jBridge is running beautifully and accepted 99% of my 32 bit plugins.
This includes all UAD, Liquid Mix to work with JBridge!! :D
Even good old apTrigga passed!!!
Only Stillwell and Voxengo didn´t pass.. probably cuz these are still PPC compatible and have not been updated for a long time.

Andy´s AMPGUI MellowGold makes me feel at home.. it´s so darn pretty :)

I experience DP8 (64bit) sounding more open and deeper.
I believe it´s cuz the CPU is not pressed as hard as it is in DP7.24 (32bit) and that the harddrives seem to work a lot faster.

Did some heavy editings on this one and finnished it up in DP 8.01 today :)

Nice to hear RG ;-)
I'm thinking about getting jbridge mainly for my UAD Quad,so to clarify, you are using a UAD2 card via jbridge in 64bit DP8.01 and have no issues?
What I'm also trying to understand, let's say you use jbridge for UAD now and next month UA updates to 64bit,how would you get jbridge to stop using UAD2 32bit?
Confused as always ;-)
Thanks,
KG

Yes the UAD2Quad is working without issues within JBridge.
When you (and me) install UAD2 in 64 bit later you will probably use them in the AU version (not VST) and therefore the JBridge UAD VST version would not be loaded if you have selected AU to be your prime plugin standard in DP.

You can always uncheck JBridge versions in DPs Audio Plugin Manager or delete them from the JBridge folder.
I do not see this would be any probem as my Waves 9 (64bit) and Waves 8 (32bit) didn´t collide either. Only Waves 9 was loaded/scanned as AU in DP. Waves 8 never got scanned by JBridge.

JBridge has an option to exclude plugins, of your choice, from being scanned.

BTW I run two 23" Fujitsu/Siemens screens on my system without issues. Saw you had questions about this.

Hope this helps :)

Still trying to get my head around the DP8 plugin manager.
Good info about jbridge,I wonder how many 32bit plugins I have that I never installed as VST I'm going to have to hunt down!
I'd really like to stay in DP8 64bit if possible.

Yes, you need to install the VSTs. I always use to do that as I also run Wavelab.

I´m gonna stay in 64 bit too, that´s for sure :)

The 32 bit plugin that is used in DP when you use jBridgeM is not the actual plugin. It's a plugin the jBridgeM creates that then accesses the actual plugin. So if you add a new plugin from UAD, it will simply show up in the plugin list as long as it passes DP's plugin validation. You could in theory keep using both versions.

Haven't checked that yet. I'm not bouncing audio that often as I mix OTB. I'll check it out and get back with an answer.

Yep, I did some bouncing tests today with JBridge and UAD plugins!
Works like a charm, sample and sound correct :)

BTW Experienced another problem free DP8.01 day in the studio today. :)

Okay, I'm installing JBridge the first moment I get. I was getting lots of beach balls (waits, not all-out freezes) the other day in DP8.0, I was working with 8.01 later that evening, and I was definitely getting less... but not none.

Radiogal - any specific things we should be doing with the UAD plug-ins when connecting them through Jbridge? So far I haven't been able to recover the plug-ins that I had on previous sessions which used the AU version in 32 bit mode.

Just install the VST versions on your Mac and make Jbridge find them.
Then enable them in the Audio Plugin manager in DP.

I haven´t opened any older UAD projects yet. so I can´t confirm if I have the same thing going on.. So you mean you can´t open the old projects with the same UAD settings done in DP7?

It´s been told UAD is gonna release the 64 bit version before X-mas...

Exactly. The old mixes won't open those AU plug-ins that are Jbridged. The developer has sent me another version without the Jbridge prefix but to no avail for the moment. As far as he can tell there is no way to do this. If I was using 32bit VST versions it would probably work. AU32bit to VST64bit is a no go. Will have to wait for UAD to work their magic :-)
