Yow, I just got it, installed it, brought it up, and I feel like most of my lovely synths are MIA. I'm glad jbridgerM works because I'm about to start wrapping stuff.

FWIW, I emailed Korg support about 64 bit updates to their legacy stuff. I hope they do it. They are some of my go-to synths.

Question I have is... can jBridge run in 32-bit mode as well? I'll need to setup the jBridge version of a VI from an existing VI track (32bit), it would be nice to be able to do all of this in 32bit, then switch to 64 and let the 32bit version die.

One thing to consider: once I go VST, there's no going back to DP7. I should probably keep some legacy versions of my 32bit VIs around (unloaded of course) in a project, just in case.

Damn. A lot of unfortunate reports coming in. I guess I'm happy to be sitting this out for a bit and waiting for more of my plugins to be released in 64-bit and for a few of DP8’s kinks to be ironed out.

Lots of promising stuff though. I'm sure much of this will get figured out over the next month or two.

Bidules latest release doesn't run as a plug in DP and instantly crashes DP.

Seems DP and 64 bit is going to be a difficult birth. I'm biting my nose to spite my face but I'm pushing hard to stay booted in 64 and keeping DP in 64 and hoping they eventually the bugs shall be quashed.

I can confirm that, for those of us who have Vienna Ensemble Pro 5, I've been able to load into VEP 32 bit server and play from within DP8 the following:
Korg VIs, all current revs
Mach 5v2
Both 32 bit
So VEP5 is an alternative to bridge or Bidule, but, as has been discussed, it costs

I don't use Mach5 much anymore (too much eye strain for me) so haven't updated to v3, the Korg VIs I still use. The version of Sampletank 2 that I have would not load, I'll have to update.

Frank, so are you running DP8 64 bit and running the VEP5 32 bit server as well as a 64 bit VEP5 server so you can run both 32 & 64 plugs simultaneously, or just running 32 bit plugs exclusively with DP8 in 64 bit mode? I'm just trying to grok if you can run BOTH 32 bit and 64 bit plugs at the same time with this method (DP8 & VEP5 32 +64 instances).

Thanks!

FWIW, MachFive 3 is kind of my go to for a whole bunch of stuff. Not a bad sampler, either, and the GUI in version 3 is much better, IMO. Not perfect, but what is?

I guess I need to look into VE Pro if I want to run DP8 in 64 bit launch...

My goal is to run only the 32 bit plugs in VEP5 while running DP8 in 64 bit mode, and run all 64 bit VIs/plugs inside DP. I successfully did that today. BUT, I haven't yet loaded up all the VIs in DP8 and run the system under my normal working situation to see how DP8 handles the load. I was able to open both the VEP 32 and 64 bit Servers at the same time, but did not actually load anything into the 64 bit VEP instance as my goal is to run all 64 bit VIs/plugs in DP8 and only 32bit plugs in 32bit VEP Pro Server. These are all on the same Mac Pro, btw.

My story with VEP is that this past June I had a scoring gig that required a large orchestral mock up and, having purchased LASS, my DP7.24 32 bit system was not able to perform within the 32 bit memory limit. I had 24gb of RAM and was waiting for DP8, but it hadn't been released, so VEP 64 bit saved the day for me. Now, it's the reverse and VEP is the "bridge" to my stranded 32 bit VIs. And if my system gets maxed out in the future, I can run an instance of VEP on a second Mac. Money well spent in my case.

Ahh, ok! That seems like a good way to go! I think I'll try that- running 64 bit VIs and plugs in DP8 and 32 in VEP5. Thanks for that info.

Hey guys,

I just took notice of this topic this morning after installing DP-8 yesterday...man what a can of worms I opened:) I'm trying to bridge Bidule 64-bit (v.9726) with DP-8 using Rewire Bundle 1.8.2 and still can't get things to work.

And did I miss something in the posts, or did anyone ever get an external Bidule 64-bit to run with DP-8 with Rewire?

And one more thing....did anyone get an external Bidule of any kind to run outside DP-8 that will bridge older 32-bit plugins and VI's? That's my goal.

Thanks!

We're going to have forget about 64 bit and Bidule and jbridge for a while. 32 bit should run fine.

You mean 32-bit Bidule and DP-8? I tried that combo but no cigar.

I downloaded Jbridge for Mac and it's working great so far for my 32 bit FX and instruments running inside DP8.

I'm still waiting on an answer from Sebastian at Plogue and why I can't get Bidule 32bit to bridge with DP8.

This is one of the great things I recently discovered about VEP5 and DP8 64-bit. You can essentially choose 32or 64 bit VEP host you want to use when you open it in an Instrument track
